Art tutorials for kids from Famous Illustrators

Children's Illustrators Hosting Draw-Alongs
TryĀ Dav Pilkey At Home! The illustrator of two great book series – Dog Man and Captain Underpants.Ā Learn to draw your favorite characters from Dog Man and Captain Underpants in these tutorials that launch every Friday. I was pretty shocked that my 6 year old drew Captain Underpants so well!Ā
Another favorite over here is theĀ Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems! Mo is so engaging and calm with the kids as he invites them into his studio to draw and learn about the books he’s created. There are tons of episodes to choose from, This can entertain my 6 year old for awhile! And if you’ve never read Elephant & Piggie books,Ā they are great for emerging readers! Also, theĀ Pigeon series of booksĀ is fantastic.Ā Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus is my JAM! These books are so fun to read, especially if you appreciate voice inflection!
The Author & Illustrator ofĀ It’s Okay to Be A UnicornĀ did a few Facebook Live Monster Drawings. You can find them all on theĀ Wonderville Studios Facebook Page.Ā
Not famous, but almost famous
We are HUGEĀ Art for Kids HubĀ fans over here. It’s a dad/child duo and the drawing subjects are right on par with what kids are interested these days! We love the art tutorial on how to draw Greg fromĀ Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
We grabbed some of thisĀ origami paperĀ and tried origami for the first time. Seriously, Art for Kids Hub has the best origami for beginner videos. We tried others and they all ended in tears of frustration (the kids, not me!). Now, we have a little garden of origami creations.
We also love the art projects from McHarper Manor. Tabitha is amazing and gave away 6 weeks of FREE art tutorials from her studio in Cincinnati. It was so popular, thousands of people watched live from all over the world. There are so many awesome projects with tons of different mediums to choose from in her library of art tutorials. Supply lists are on her website with links to get the materials. This upcycled robot video was one our favorites!
She is also offering aĀ Art Membership ClubĀ too, with tons of great exclusive art projects. Something to keep them busy and engaged with others.Ā And, parents, she hostsĀ Date Nights INĀ with happy hour music – BYOB – and do a project together.Ā
